Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version

by Jonathan Apr 17,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with distinct pricing strategies for Japan and the rest of the world, offering gamers a choice between two system versions. The Japanese-language version, exclusive to Japan, will be priced at approximately $330, significantly lower than the Multi-Language System version, which will be available globally for $449.99. This price disparity reflects the current economic exchange rates, particularly the weakened yen against the US dollar, which impacts the cost for tourists looking to buy in Japan.

For those living in Japan, both versions will be accessible, but the Japanese-language system is strictly for local purchase and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts set to Japan. This version supports only Japanese language software available on the Nintendo eShop in Japan. On the other hand, Nintendo recommends the Multi-Language System version for fans who wish to enjoy the Switch 2 in various languages. Further details about the Multi-Language System will be disclosed on April 4.
