Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Appearance in Supergirl Film: 'We Look Spot On'

Jason Momoa, renowned for his portrayal of Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is set to bring his favorite comic book character, Lobo, to life in the 2026 DC Universe (DCU) film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Lobo, an alien bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia with superhuman strength and immortality, was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen and first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983. Much like Superman, Lobo is the last of his kind, making his character a compelling addition to the DCU.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Momoa expressed his excitement and nervousness about embodying Lobo, a character he has long admired due to aesthetic similarities. He teased that fans will get a glimpse of Lobo in the film, hinting at a brief but impactful appearance. "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa shared. "That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool."

When questioned about Lobo's screen time, Momoa clarified, "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit," emphasizing that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow remains centered on Supergirl.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn unveiled the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl on Bluesky, marking the beginning of filming for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The film draws heavily from the graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, which follows the story of an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.

The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release in June 2026, making it the second film in the new DCU following James Gunn's Superman, set to premiere this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for September 2026.
