DC x Sonic the Hedgehog is spearheaded by Sonic veterans Ian Flynn (writer) and Adam Bryce Thomas (artist). Pablo M. Collar and Ethan Young contribute cover art to this first issue.

The story begins with Darkseid's invasion of the Sonic universe, his sights set on a powerful new source of energy. The Justice League and Team Sonic must unite to prevent the ultimate villain from conquering a new dimension.

This collaboration extends beyond the comics, as Warner Bros. and Sega partner for a line of exclusive Target merchandise. The initial release features T-shirts and hoodies showcasing Shadow the Hedgehog in a Batman costume.
