Kevin Conroy's Final Role in Devil May Cry Anime Revealed by Netflix
The demon hunting is about to commence as Netflix brings the beloved video game franchise "Devil May Cry" to life with a new anime adaptation. Fans were treated to an exciting sneak peek with the release of a brand new trailer. Adding to the anticipation, the series will feature the late, legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy in a posthumous role, showcasing his talent once again.
Kevin Conroy, renowned for voicing Bruce Wayne and Batman in numerous animated series and films, will lend his voice to the character VP Baines in "Devil May Cry." His performance can be heard in the trailer's opening, offering fans another opportunity to appreciate his remarkable skill following his acclaimed role in "Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3" in July 2024. Conroy's untimely passing in November 2022 at the age of 66 left a void in the voice acting community, making his final contributions even more cherished.
Joining Conroy in the series are Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch taking on the iconic role of Dante. The official synopsis teases a gripping narrative where "sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms." At the center of this chaos is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, who is unaware of the pivotal role he plays in the fate of both worlds.
Adi Shankar, known for his work on films such as the 2012 "Judge Dredd" reboot, "Killing Them Softly," and "The Voices," will serve as the showrunner for "Devil May Cry." Shankar's involvement adds an exciting dimension to the project, especially given his reputation for delivering compelling adaptations. Additionally, he is set to executive produce an "Assassin's Creed" series, though its future remains uncertain.
The animation will be brought to life by Studio Mir, the acclaimed South Korean studio behind "The Legend of Korra" and "X-Men '97." With their expertise, viewers can expect high-quality visuals and storytelling. "Devil May Cry" is slated to premiere on Netflix on April 3, 2025, promising an action-packed adventure that honors the legacy of Kevin Conroy and the thrilling world of demon hunting.
