Resident Evil Creator Wants Cult Classic, Killer7, to Get a Sequel By Suda51

Resident Evil's mastermind, Shinji Mikami, recently expressed his strong desire for a Killer7 sequel during a presentation alongside the game's creator, Goichi "Suda51" Suda. This fueled speculation about the future of this cult classic.

Killer7: A Sequel or a Complete Edition?

The Grasshopper Direct presentation, primarily focused on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, unexpectedly veered into a discussion about Killer7's future. Mikami openly stated his wish to see Suda51 develop a sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites.

Suda51, sharing Mikami's enthusiasm, hinted at a possible Killer7 sequel, playfully suggesting titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."

Killer7, a 2005 action-adventure title for GameCube and PlayStation 2, is renowned for its blend of horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top violence. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of manifesting seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. Despite its cult following, a sequel has remained elusive. Even after the 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 voiced interest in revisiting his original vision, suggesting a "Complete Edition" to incorporate cut content.

Mikami jokingly dismissed the Complete Edition idea, but the discussion revealed that the original concept included extensive dialogue for the character Coyote, potentially restorable in such a release.

The mere suggestion of a sequel or a complete edition ignited fervent fan excitement. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' enthusiasm alone has generated considerable buzz. The ultimate decision, as Suda51 put it, rests on choosing between "Killer7: Beyond" and the Complete Edition.
