"Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Excels on Consoles"
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) is set to impress with its performance across various platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Dive into the details to discover how KCD2 performs and the settings you can adjust for the best gaming experience.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Performance Tested Across All Platforms
Photo-Realistic Look With CryEngine
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's performance on different platforms is promising, as evidenced by multiple tests and reports. Both PlayStation and Xbox consoles run the game smoothly, offering options for 30fps and 60fps. KCD2 leverages the capabilities of the PS5 Pro to enhance the game world with superior graphics. The game's photo-realistic rendering, powered by CryTek's CryEngine, sets it apart, as few games utilize this engine.
Warhorse Studios, the developer behind KCD2, continues to use CryEngine, building on their experience from the first game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1. Their familiarity with the engine allows them to push its boundaries and enhance features for the sequel. According to PC Gamer, CryEngine's old-school rendering focuses on performance, using limited shaders and basic lighting, yet it still achieves photo-realistic imagery through physically based materials. Eurogamer highlights that CryEngine's sparse voxel octree global illumination (SVOGI) enhances the game's lighting, creating realistic light bounces and reflections.
PlayStation And Xbox Consoles Have 30 FPS and 60 FPS Options
For PS5 and Xbox Series X, KCD2 offers two modes: a fidelity mode at 30fps and 1440p, and a performance mode at 60fps and 1080p. The Xbox Series S, however, only supports the fidelity mode. On the other hand, the PS5 Pro runs at a default of 60fps at 1296p, with PSSR upscaling to 4K.
The fidelity mode enhances rendering on PS5 and Xbox Series X, adding more foliage and improved shadow casting across terrains, which significantly enhances the visual quality of outdoor scenes and ambient occlusion. The PS5 Pro takes this a step further, offering sharper imagery, better ambient occlusion, and enhanced object quality, elevating the overall visual experience.
Upscaling Is Completely Optional For PC
For PC players, upscaling in KCD2 is optional, allowing for customizable settings. PC Gamer notes that the game supports FSR and DLSS for rendering at lower resolutions, but lacks XeSS for Intel cards, sharpening options, and frame generation. Despite CryEngine's focus on performance, running KCD2 at 4K with maximum settings can be demanding on GPUs. However, the game offers five quality presets—low, medium, high, ultra, and experimental—to help players find the optimal settings for their systems.
KCD2 provides an in-depth guide to help players prepare their systems, detailing how to check specs and the requirements for CPU, RAM, GPU, and storage, ensuring a smooth gaming experience.
