Edwards' Twitter (X) post showcased never-before-seen images, including the title card ("The Invincible Iron Man") and gameplay screenshots. He revealed the project commenced shortly after the release of Genepool Software's X-Men 2: Wolverine’s Revenge. A subsequent post featured Xbox gameplay footage, including the startup screen and a desert-based tutorial segment.

Activision's Decision to Cancel "The Invincible Iron Man"

Despite positive fan reaction to Edwards' reveals, Activision canceled "The Invincible Iron Man" months after development began. Genepool Software subsequently closed, leaving the team unemployed. While Activision offered no public explanation, Edwards suggested several possibilities: delays to the Iron Man film, dissatisfaction with the game's progress, or perhaps another developer was chosen for the project.

The game's unique Tony Stark design, predating Robert Downey Jr.'s MCU portrayal by almost five years, also sparked discussion. The suit's design closely resembled the "Ultimate Marvel" comic book version from the early 2000s. Edwards stated the design choice was the artist's decision. He promised to release more gameplay footage, but this remains forthcoming at the time of writing.
