LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle Main Tower Unveiled

by Lucy Aug 10,2025

For the past two years, LEGO has been crafting its most intricate project yet: a minifigure-scale Hogwarts Castle, inspired by the Harry Potter series. This ambitious build remains ongoing, comprising multiple standalone sets sold separately. The first significant release, the Great Hall, launched in Fall 2024.

The Main Tower, now available, is the second key set in this interconnected system, complemented by additional structures and classrooms sold separately, including Hogwarts Castle: Potions Class (Set #76431), Hogwarts Castle Owlery (Set #76430), Hogwarts Castle: Flying Lessons (Set #76447), and Hogwarts Castle Boathouse (Set #76426).

Yet, the Main Tower stands alone as a captivating playset, particularly for fans of the first book and its film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Like the Great Hall, the Main Tower opens at the back to reveal detailed rooms and dioramas recreating iconic movie moments. The lowest levels, built first, feature underground chambers leading to the Sorcerer’s Stone. From left to right, these include the Devil’s Snare room, the Flying Keys room, and the grand Chess Set room.

Each room boasts interactive features. The Devil’s Snare moves up and down from the ceiling via a hidden switch in the rock facade. The Flying Keys spin on a pedestal, mimicking flight. The oversized Chess Set pieces are movable, enhancing playability.

Included are LEGO minifigures of Harry, Hermione, and Ron, perfect for bringing these scenes to life. These rooms are designed to reflect specific book moments rather than serve as generic play areas. The set also includes nine additional minifigures, totaling 12: Neville Longbottom, Dean Thomas, Marcus Flint, Percy Weasley, Ernie Macmillan, Lisa Turpin, Professor Dumbledore, Professor Kettleburn, and Nearly Headless Nick.

Above the Devil’s Snare room lies Fluffy, Hagrid’s three-headed dog, resting on a trapdoor that opens to the chambers below. In the back-right corner, a creatively designed harp, played by Professor Quirrell to lull Fluffy to sleep, features two hinged builds forming its distinctive shape. A door on the right leads to a narrow hallway and an exterior balcony.

Above Fluffy’s room is the Gryffindor common room, adorned in red and gold. It includes a bedroom with two beds, two armchairs, and a fireplace. The sunken floor design creates a cozy, intimate atmosphere.

Each room is a separate build with its own instruction booklet, allowing for collaborative building. The rooms connect via a few attachment points, making them easy to separate for individual play or scene posing. While most sets of this complexity target ages 18+, the Main Tower and other Hogwarts Castle sets are rated 10+, balancing play and display appeal.

The build continues with a roof and the Main Tower itself, stacking five rooms vertically. The first three feature Hogwarts’ iconic moving staircases, designed by Rowena Ravenclaw. Two staircases pivot on rotating platforms, with portraits lining the walls. A gargoyle on the third floor guards the secret entrance to Professor Dumbledore’s office.

The fourth-floor office is filled with portraits of past Headmasters and magical artifacts, including the Sword of Godric Gryffindor, the Pensieve, and the Sorting Hat with a detailed brim. This beautifully furnished space is ideal for recreating Harry and Dumbledore’s lessons.

Finally, the tower’s spire houses the fifth room, featuring the Mirror of Erised on a rotating platform. One side shows Harry with his parents, the other with the Sorcerer’s Stone.

The Main Tower stands over two feet tall, from its rock base to the spire’s peak. Combined with the Great Hall, it forms a cohesive exterior facade, with interiors packed with iconic Hogwarts scenes in a compact space.

This set feels like part of a larger vision. Unlike LEGO’s previous Hogwarts Castle, which lacked a clear assembly plan, this iteration suggests a deliberate design. A complete Hogwarts Castle likely exists in LEGO’s planning, whether physically or digitally.

The journey to a full castle will take years, but if LEGO maintains this level of detail, the result will be extraordinary. To be continued.

LEGO Hogwarts Castle: The Main Tower, Set #76454, retails for $259.99 with 2135 pieces. It is available now.
