Mai Shiranui Sparks Massive Interest in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6, Capcom's acclaimed fighting game, has seen a surge in popularity with the addition of Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. As of December 31, 2024, the game has achieved sales of 4.4 million copies. While fans have expressed concerns about the frequency of new content, the introduction of Mai Shiranui as the third fighter of the second season has significantly boosted the game's appeal.

The impact of Mai Shiranui's addition was immediately felt on the day of her release, with Steam's peak online players surpassing 63,000—a notable increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 players and the highest since May 2024. Mai is accessible to Battle Pass holders, allowing them to develop relationships with her in World Tour mode, learn her moves, and test their skills in Battle Hub. Furthermore, a second costume inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been added, enhancing her appeal.

In addition to Mai's introduction, Street Fighter 6 has welcomed a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned figure in the fighting game community. Players can try him out until March 10. The game has also introduced new Master League ranks and rewards, further enriching the gaming experience.

Capcom has released a trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques, further fueling excitement among the Street Fighter 6 community.
