"Mandalorian and Grogu Update Enhances Millennium Falcon Ride - Star Wars Celebration"

by Lucas May 05,2025

Star Wars Celebration unveiled thrilling new details for an upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, which will coincide with the release of the new movie. This update promises an exciting choose-your-own-adventure experience, featuring visits to iconic planets like Tatooine, Bespin, Endor, and introducing Coruscant. A standout feature is that Engineers will now have the unique responsibility of taking care of Grogu, adding a new layer of interaction to the ride.

Scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, this update will offer a fresh narrative path distinct from The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, yet it will still deeply involve both Din Djarin and Grogu. The storyline kicks off with Hondo Ohnaka uncovering a clandestine deal on Tatooine between former Imperial officers and pirates, igniting a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Guests will collaborate with Mando and Grogu to pursue these fugitives and secure a lucrative bounty, immersing themselves in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.

While full details are yet to be revealed, it's clear that Engineers will play a pivotal role, caring for Grogu throughout the mission. Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama shared insights on what guests can anticipate. "Throughout the mission, we're going to be giving the engineers the opportunity to actually get to communicate with Grogu," Kalama explained. "So, we think it's going to be a ton of fun. There may be times when Mando has to deboard the Razor Crest and Grogu, left to his own devices, might get a little happy on the control panel. So, we love the idea of there being these fun little vignettes and moments where you're sort of on the comm with Grogu."

The choose-your-own-adventure aspect introduces critical decision-making moments. Kalama elaborated, "There will be a sort of critical moment in your adventure where you are strapped for time and have to make a lightning quick decision about which of our particular bounties we want to pursue. And that's going to be the sort of inciting incident that allows us to decide which are the different destinations we go to."
