Marvel Rivals Dev Commits to Bi-Monthly Hero Releases

by Aurora Apr 13,2025

NetEase Games has exciting news for Marvel Rivals enthusiasts: a new hero will be introduced every month and a half as part of the game's ongoing seasonal updates. This announcement was made clear by the studio's creative director, Guangyun Chen, during an interview with Metro. Chen emphasized their commitment to releasing a new playable character every half-season, which translates to a new hero approximately every six weeks.

"Every season, we'll be rolling out fresh seasonal stories, new maps, and new heroes. We'll actually be breaking down each season into two halves," Chen explained. "The length of one season is three months. And for each half of the season, we will introduce a new hero. We just eventually want to continue to enhance the experience, and, you know, keep everyone excited in our community."

This ambitious schedule raises anticipation among fans, who eagerly await announcements on who the next heroes will be. Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls set a strong precedent by launching with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second half. These iconic characters have already made a significant impact, but maintaining this momentum will be a challenge as the seasons progress.

The game initially launched with an impressive roster, including fan-favorites like Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. Rumors are swirling about potential additions like Blade in Season 2, with fans also hoping to see characters such as Daredevil, Deadpool, and other X-Men members join the fray. While it's uncertain how NetEase will continue to expand the Marvel Rivals roster, the game's current success indicates a promising future.

In addition to new heroes, Season 1 brought a series of balance changes and gameplay tweaks, with more updates on the horizon.
