Marvel Rivals Devs Defer PvE Mode

Marvel Rivals: PvE Mode Still Unconfirmed, but NetEase Exploring Options

Despite its recent launch, Marvel Rivals players are already clamoring for new content, particularly a PvE mode. While rumors of a PvE boss fight have circulated, NetEase has officially stated that a full-fledged PvE mode isn't currently in development.

In a recent interview at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu addressed the possibility of a PvE mode: "For now, we don't have any kind of PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new gameplay modes. If we find a new mode entertaining and fun enough, we would, of course, bring it to our audience."

PlayFollowing this statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo gauged my interest in a PvE mode (I expressed interest), prompting Wu to elaborate: "We believe some of our audience would like a PvE mode. However, a hardcore PvE experience would be drastically different from our current game. Our team is experimenting with different approaches, perhaps a lighter mode, to see what works best."

This suggests NetEase is exploring less extensive PvE options, potentially limited-time events or similar additions, rather than a full-scale PvE overhaul. Further details remain scarce.

Marvel Rivals continues to receive updates every six weeks, with the Human Torch and The Thing slated to join the roster on February 21st. Separate discussions with Wu and Koo also covered potential Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility and the subject of intentionally misleading dataminers with false hero leaks within the game's code. (Further details on those topics can be found in a separate article.)
