Marvel Rivals Season 2: New Team-Up Skills and Skins Unveiled
Marvel Rivals is set to introduce exciting updates to team-up skills in its upcoming 2nd season. Discover what NetEase has planned for enhanced team-up skills and the new skins for Spider-Man and Iron Man.
Upcoming Updates for Marvel Rivals
New Team-Up Skills and Changes
Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen has confirmed significant changes to team-up skills for Season 2. In a recent interview with PC Gamer on March 14, Chen detailed the team's plans for the next major update.
He stated, "Starting from Season 2, we will introduce new Team-Up skills with the seasonal update and adjust some existing ones. Together with seasonal overall balance adjustments, this will create a new combat environment and experience for the season."
Currently, Marvel Rivals boasts 17 team-up skills, including Ragnarok Rebirth for Hela with either Loki or Thor, Lunar Force for Cloak & Dagger and Moon Knight, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow, among others. As the game's roster grows, it will be intriguing to see how NetEase manages these changes to ensure balance among the heroes.
Balancing Heroes
Chen elaborated on the approach to balancing heroes in Marvel Rivals, especially as new characters are continuously added. He explained, "First, we will closely monitor key metrics for heroes across different modes. For example, in Quick Match and Competitive Modes, we will analyze data such as win rates, pick rates, damage, healing, damage taken, and final blows for heroes at various ranks and in different tournaments. This data serves as the foundation for our balancing efforts."
He further added, "At the same time, we will analyze the composition of hero lineups and their win rates within the aforementioned modes, which will be crucial references for our overall balancing direction. Finally, we will pay close attention to the player community as one of the bases for our balancing decisions."
Chen also mentioned in a previous interview with Metro in January that the game will introduce a new hero every half-season. With each season lasting around three months, Marvel Rivals is set to add a total of eight heroes annually. As the game's roster expands, the challenge of balancing the game intensifies.
He confirmed that the team is actively working on future updates, stating, "The content for Season 2 is ready and set to go. The designs for Seasons 3 and 4 have also been completed and are currently under intensive development! Overall, everything is progressing smoothly." This aligns with NetEase's commitment to support Marvel Rivals for 10 years and beyond, ensuring fans can look forward to continuous updates and enhancements.
Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Coming on March 20
NetEase announced via Marvel Rivals' official X (formerly Twitter) account on March 18 that new skins for Spider-Man and Iron Man will be available starting March 20 at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21 at 2:00 AM UTC. Spider-Man's new look, "Spider-Punk 2099," features a futuristic digital mask with a spiked mohawk and an electric guitar. Iron Man's "Steam Power" skin embraces a steampunk aesthetic, complete with large exhaust pipes and a burning furnace on his torso.
These skins, which were previously showcased during the game's closed beta, have been eagerly awaited by fans. Following the official release of Loki's Presidential attire from the beta, these new skins add to the excitement. Although NetEase has announced the release date, the prices for these skins have not yet been disclosed.
As Marvel Rivals wraps up Season 1, anticipation builds for the updates and changes coming in Season 2. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. To stay updated with the latest news on Marvel Rivals, check out our article below!
