Mastering the Parabolic Microphone in Phasmophobia: Tips and Tricks
In the haunting world of *Phasmophobia*, where tracking elusive spirits is the name of the game, the Parabolic Microphone stands out as one of the most valuable pieces of equipment at your disposal. If you're new to this spectral tool, let's dive into how you can unlock and effectively use the Parabolic Microphone during your ghost-hunting adventures.
How To Unlock Parabolic Microphone in Phasmophobia
The Parabolic Microphone falls under the category of Optional Equipment in *Phasmophobia*, meaning it's not automatically provided to your character. To add this crucial tool to your arsenal, you'll need to reach a specific level and then purchase it from the game's Shop portal.
Similar to other equipment in *Phasmophobia*, the Parabolic Microphone comes in three tiers, each offering increased quality and reliability. To unlock the first tier, you need to reach Level 7. Once you hit this milestone, head to the shop and add it to your equipment loadout, as shown in the images above.
The second tier becomes available at Level 31 and requires a $3,000 investment for the upgrade. The third and final tier unlocks at Level 72 and will set you back $5,000.
After unlocking these tiers, you're free to use any version of the Parabolic Microphone in your investigations. You can equip up to two microphones in your loadout, regardless of your team size.
Keep in mind, if you decide to Prestige your character, you'll be reset to Level 1, and you'll need to unlock each tier of the Parabolic Microphone all over again, just like with all your other equipment.

How To Use Parabolic Microphone in Phasmophobia
To utilize the Parabolic Microphone during your ghost-hunting contracts in *Phasmophobia*, you must first add it to your loadout through the Shop portal. This ensures it's available in the truck upon arrival. Note that in Challenge Mode, the preset loadout might not include the Parabolic Microphone.
Once you're at the investigation site, grab the Parabolic Microphone from the equipment wall in the truck and equip it like any other item. Use the designated button to power it on or off. If you're using the third-tier version, you'll benefit from a radar screen that helps pinpoint the direction of the sound (as shown above).
The Parabolic Microphone is especially useful on medium to large maps in *Phasmophobia*. It allows you to track the ghost's location by picking up sounds like objects being thrown, doors moving, or the ghost's voice, offering an alternative to traditional methods such as using the temperature gauge or EMF Reader.
Not only does it aid in locating the ghost, but it can also help you complete Optional Objectives that require capturing the ghost's voice. Additionally, certain ghosts like the Deogen or Banshee produce unique sounds that can only be detected with the Parabolic Microphone, providing vital clues for identification.
That wraps up how to unlock and use the Parabolic Microphone in *Phasmophobia*. For more tips, guides, and the latest news on the game, be sure to check out The Escapist, where you'll find detailed information on all achievements and trophies and how to unlock them.
