Daredevil: Born Again's New Trailer Reveals a Shocking Alliance: Daredevil and Kingpin Unite Against Muse

A new trailer for Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again, premiering March 4th on Disney+, reveals a surprising twist: Daredevil and Kingpin, longtime adversaries, are teaming up. This collaboration is seemingly driven by a common enemy: the artistically-inclined serial killer, Muse.

Who is Muse, and what makes him a threat significant enough to force this unlikely alliance?

The Artful Killer: Muse

Muse, a relatively recent addition to Daredevil's rogue's gallery (created by Charles Soule and Ron Garney in 2016's Daredevil #11), is a chilling villain. He views murder as the ultimate artistic expression, creating gruesome masterpieces from his victims. His methods involve using blood for murals and arranging corpses into elaborate displays.

Muse's danger extends beyond his brutality. His body acts as a sensory disruptor, effectively jamming Daredevil's radar sense, making him a particularly formidable foe for the Man Without Fear. Combined with superhuman strength and speed, Muse is a truly deadly opponent.

His initial conflict with Daredevil and Blindspot escalates when he blinds Blindspot. After his capture, Muse self-mutilates to prevent further artistic creation, only to later escape and resume his killing spree. His obsession with vigilantes, including the Punisher, further complicates the situation, particularly as Mayor Wilson Fisk launches an anti-vigilante campaign. Ultimately, Muse meets his end in Daredevil #600 (2018), though his death in the comics doesn't necessarily preclude his return in the MCU.

Muse's Role in Daredevil: Born Again

The Daredevil: Born Again trailer confirms Muse's appearance, sporting a costume closely resembling his comic book counterpart – a white mask and bodysuit with bloody red tears. His presence suggests the series draws inspiration from contemporary Daredevil comics, rather than solely relying on the 1986 Born Again storyline. While the original comic focuses on Fisk's discovery of Daredevil's identity, the show seems to be taking a different route, especially considering Fisk's prior knowledge of Daredevil's secret identity within the MCU.

The trailer hints at a forced alliance between Daredevil and Fisk, shown meeting in a diner. The implication is a new threat, powerful enough to necessitate their collaboration. Muse fits this description perfectly. Daredevil seeks to apprehend a ruthless killer, while Fisk aims to eliminate a threat to his mayoral authority. This shared objective compels an uneasy truce between these sworn enemies.

The series also features other vigilantes like the Punisher and White Tiger, likely caught in the crossfire of Fisk's anti-vigilante campaign. Muse's glorification of these figures through his macabre art further intensifies the conflict.

While the Daredevil/Fisk rivalry remains central, Muse emerges as the immediate and perhaps most challenging threat yet. His unique abilities and relentless bloodlust make him a formidable opponent, forcing Daredevil into an unlikely alliance with the very man who seeks to dismantle his crusade.
