Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director
In a recent interview, Hashino expressed his interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game, potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.
Regarding the future of Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino confirmed there are currently no plans for a direct sequel. His focus remains on completing the current project, which he originally conceived as a third major RPG series alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become Atlus' flagship title. While a sequel isn't in the works, an anime adaptation is under discussion.
Metaphor: ReFantazio has achieved significant success, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961—surpassing even Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
