Microsoft Making Big Changes to Game Pass Quests and Rewards

by Lillian Feb 13,2025

Enhanced Xbox Game Pass Rewards Program Launches January 7th

Starting January 7th, Xbox Game Pass is significantly upgrading its rewards program, introducing Quests for PC users and enhancing point-earning opportunities. However, these new features are exclusively available to players aged 18 and older, reflecting Microsoft's commitment to age-appropriate gaming experiences.

The update expands the ways players can earn points, moving beyond the previous Xbox Game Pass Ultimate exclusivity. Now, PC Game Pass subscribers (18+) can access Quests and the Rewards Hub directly from their profile, unlocking various rewards by completing in-game tasks. A minimum playtime of 15 minutes per game is required to earn points, and participation is limited to titles within the Game Pass catalog, excluding those using third-party launchers.

Key improvements to the Game Pass Quests and Rewards system include:

  • Quests for PC Game Pass: PC players aged 18+ can now participate in the Quests program.
  • New Quest Types: Daily, weekly, and monthly quests provide consistent opportunities to earn points.
  • Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass title for at least 15 minutes.
  • Weekly Streaks: Maintain a weekly playing streak (at least 5 days) to earn increasing point multipliers (2x for 2 weeks, 3x for 3 weeks, 4x for 4+ weeks).
  • Monthly Packs: Explore the Game Pass library by playing four (Monthly 4-Pack) or eight (Monthly 8-Pack) different games (15 minutes each) per month. The 4-Pack games count towards the 8-Pack.
  • PC Weekly Bonus: Earn 150 points by playing for at least 15 minutes on 5 or more days of the week.

Access to the Rewards Hub, used for tracking points and redeeming rewards on Xbox consoles, the Windows PC Xbox app, and the mobile Xbox app, will be restricted to users 18 and older. Players under 18 can only earn rewards through parentally approved purchases from the Microsoft Store.

This update simplifies the quest system, offering more frequent opportunities for reward accumulation and encouraging players to explore the diverse Game Pass library. While enhancing the experience for older players, Microsoft prioritizes age-appropriate content access.
