Microsoft Unveils Robust Xbox Game Pass January 2025 Wave 2 Lineup

Microsoft's Xbox Wire preempts the January 23rd Xbox Developer Direct with a sneak peek at the upcoming Xbox Game Pass January 2025 Wave 2 lineup. This wave features a diverse range of titles, including several day-one Game Pass releases. The Developer Direct will showcase additional day-one titles, such as Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and a currently unannounced fourth game.

The second wave begins January 21st with Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S), a day-one release for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This snowy sequel to Lonely Mountains: Downhill supports up to eight players in cross-platform multiplayer.

January 22nd sees a flurry of additions:

• Flock (Console) joins Game Pass Standard, offering multiplayer co-op gameplay focused on collecting adorable flying creatures.
• Gigantic: Rampage Edition (Cloud, Console, and PC) arrives on Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. This definitive edition of the 5v5 MOBA hero shooter delivers a dynamic team-based experience.
• Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (Console) launches on Game Pass Standard, a unique Japanese-inspired single-player action strategy game.
• Magical Delicacy (Console) and The Case of the Golden Idol (Console) also debut on Game Pass Standard.
• Tchia (Xbox Series X|S) makes its Game Pass Standard debut.
• Starbound (Cloud and Console) expands to Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass Standard, already available on PC Game Pass.

January 28th features two more day-one releases:

• Eternal Strands (Cloud, Console, and PC) for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, a fantasy action-adventure game from Yellow Brick Games.
• Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, a third-person shooter and trap defense game.

Shady Part of Me (Cloud, Console, and PC) joins Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard on January 29th, offering a poignant narrative-driven experience.

Another day-one release, Sniper Elite: Resistance (Cloud, Console, and PC), arrives on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on January 30th. This tactical third-person shooter allows for co-op campaign play.

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S), a highly anticipated sequel, launches day-one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on January 31st.

Finally, Far Cry New Dawn (Cloud, Console, and PC) concludes the wave, hitting Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard on February 4th.

January 31st Departures:

Several titles will be leaving Game Pass on January 31st, 2025, to make room for the new additions: Anuchard, Broforce Forever, Darkest Dungeon, Death’s Door, Maquette, and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. All platforms affected are Cloud, Console, and PC unless otherwise noted.
