"Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Set for 2025 Esports World Cup Return"

by Madison Apr 18,2025

The Esports World Cup 2024 has been a resounding success, and the excitement continues to build with the confirmation of returning games for 2025. Garena's Free Fire has already announced its return, and now Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is set to join the lineup once again.

MLBB will feature prominently with two events at the Esports World Cup: the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These tournaments will bring together teams from around the globe to compete in Riyadh. This year, the MSC saw Selangor Red Giants clinch the gold, while the Women's Invitational was won by Smart Omega Empress, who impressively defeated Team Vitality, ending their remarkable 25-game winning streak that had been unbroken since 2021.

Big, but Big Enough?

While it appears that nearly all games from the previous Esports World Cup will return, there's a noticeable trend: few, if any, are hosting what could be considered truly major competitions. For instance, MLBB's main event at the EWC is the Mid Season Cup, which might suggest to fans that the tournament is more of a sideshow than the main event. This can be viewed in two ways: positively, as it means the EWC doesn't overshadow existing leagues, and negatively, as it might be seen as secondary to the primary competitions.

Nevertheless, fans of these games will be thrilled to see so many favorites returning to this prestigious tournament. If you're inspired to dive into MLBB, be sure to check out our rankings to see which characters are considered top tier in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang!
