Monster Hunter Now Tests New Outbreak Feature with Black Diablos Swarm

Monster Hunter Now introduces an exciting trial feature called Monster Outbreaks, currently under evaluation by Niantic to gather player insights and refine it before its official launch.

When Does Monster Outbreaks Testing Occur in Monster Hunter Now?

The test runs on April 26th and 27th, with sessions lasting a few hours daily. Events occur twice each day, Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 to 10:59 a.m. and 3:00 to 3:59 p.m., local time.

At designated outbreak locations on the map, players will encounter clusters of 8-star Black Diablos. The challenge is to collaborate with others to defeat 100 of them at a single outbreak point within the one-hour period, not a global total.

Participation requires a minimum Hunter Rank of 11. The party feature is disabled, so only in-person group hunts are valid.

Outbreak points are highlighted on the map with a unique icon. Tapping it reveals event details, and a sign-up roster at each location lets players signal their participation time.

Black Diablos Brings Intense Swarm Action!

The slay count mechanic adds depth. If four hunters defeat one monster, it counts as four kills toward the 100 goal.

If the 100-monster target is met early, players can continue hunting Black Diablos for the remaining time, as only this monster spawns during outbreaks.

Successful groups earn rewards, including 3 Black Diablos Tailcases, 3 Ridges, 3 Primeshells, 3 Marrows, and 2,000 Zenny. Using the sign-up roster also grants an exclusive Outbreak Test I Medal.
