MultiVersus Unveils Two New Fighters Amidst Fan Pressure
MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale for the gaming industry, a stark reminder of development challenges akin to the infamous Concord debacle. Despite its impending closure, the game's final chapter unfolds with the reveal of two highly anticipated characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.
This announcement, however, hasn't been met entirely with celebration. A wave of fan frustration, some expressing their disappointment through threats directed at the development team, has prompted a response from MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh. In a heartfelt message, Huynh appealed for civility, urging players to refrain from targeting the team with threats.
Huynh offered an apology to fans whose desired characters didn't make it into the game, expressing hope that they'll still find enjoyment in the final Season 5 content. He also shed light on the complex factors influencing character selection, emphasizing that his personal control over these decisions was less extensive than some fans believed.
The impending shutdown has also ignited controversy regarding in-game tokens. Players who purchased the premium $100 edition, promised bonus tokens, now find themselves unable to spend them on the newly released characters. This unfulfilled promise may have contributed to the escalation of negative reactions and threats.
