Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel

To celebrate NieR's 15th Anniversary, Square Enix unveiled a variety of announcements for the franchise, including upcoming events and projects. The highlight of the NieR 15th Anniversary livestream on April 19 was the announcement of the online Special Novel, titled [U]ndecided Option.

This novel will be released in three updates, with the first one already accessible. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's synopsis teases, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."

Alongside the novel announcement, Square Enix launched the NieR 15th Anniversary website, which will serve as the hub for the online special novel and other upcoming projects and events related to the anniversary celebration.

Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More

Square Enix is set to host an exhibition event at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other information will be announced soon.

Additional performances for the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 have been scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets for these concerts are available through a lottery system, and more information can be found on the concert's official website.

Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization issues. This unexpected developer blog has sparked curiosity among fans, who speculate about a possible sequel or remake. However, no official statements have confirmed these rumors.
