Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrades: Kirby, Mario Party Jamboree
Nintendo has revealed pricing details for upgrading two additional Switch titles—Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree—from their original versions to enhanced Switch 2 editions, with costs significantly higher than expected.
While upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom costs $9.99 each, NintendoLife discovered that both Kirby and Super Mario Party upgrades command more than twice that amount.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild features visual and performance enhancements, achievement tracking, and compatibility with the new "Zelda Notes" service through Nintendo Switch Online. Existing owners must purchase a $10 upgrade pack to access these features.
The Switch 2 version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new Star-Crossed World narrative content, while Super Mario Party Jamboree's upgrade includes Jamboree TV—a feature pack utilizing Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and optional USB-C camera support. Both offer 1440p TV resolution, improved frame rates, additional minigames, and expanded online functionality.
Though US pricing remains unconfirmed—potentially due to tariff uncertainties—the UK Nintendo eShop lists Kirby's upgrade at £16.99/€19.99, substantially higher than the £7.99/€9.99 Zelda upgrades.
Super Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV bundle follows the same pricing structure, suggesting a probable $19.99 US price point.
The $20 upgrade fee aligns with the premium pricing of Kirby and Super Mario Party's complete Switch 2 editions at $79.99 each—$20 above their original Switch versions' $59.99 MSRP.
US pricing for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition standalone purchases:
Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
Notably, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers receive Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrades free of charge, though no comparable offer exists for Kirby or Super Mario Party upgrades currently.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders launched today (April 24) at $449.99—selling out predictably fast. The company has advised US customers that My Nintendo Store pre-orders may not guarantee launch day delivery due to overwhelming demand.
