Nintendo Switch 2 Logo Leak Rumors Surface

Summary

  • The rumored Nintendo Switch 2 logo has potentially leaked online, possibly confirming the console's official name.
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be unveiled before March 2025.

The Nintendo Switch 2 logo might have just been leaked, and with it, possible confirmation of the console's official name. Since early 2024, when Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed the existence of the new console, rumors and leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2 have been swirling. It is anticipated that the Switch 2 will be fully unveiled before the end of March 2025, with a launch expected later in the year.

Following Furukawa's announcement in May 2024, speculation about the exact release date of Nintendo's latest hardware has been rampant, but Nintendo has remained largely silent on the details. While the new system is commonly referred to as the Nintendo Switch 2, its official name is still up for debate. Many leaks suggest that the Switch 2 will retain a design similar to the current Switch, which supports the notion that it might be marketed as a direct successor to the highly successful original.

According to Comicbook, the Nintendo Switch 2 logo has recently surfaced online. Shared by Universo Nintendo editor-in-chief Necro Felipe on Bluesky, the logo closely resembles the original Switch's, featuring a stylized Joy-Con controller above the words "Nintendo Switch." The only notable difference is the addition of the number 2 next to the Joy-Con, which appears to confirm that "Nintendo Switch 2" will indeed be the official name.

New Nintendo Console Might Actually Be Called Switch 2

Despite the leaked logo, there's no official confirmation yet, and some skepticism remains about whether "Nintendo Switch 2" will be the final name. Historically, Nintendo has chosen distinct names for their consoles, with the Wii U being the closest example to a sequel name, though it was less successful than its predecessor, the Nintendo Wii. Some believe the Wii U's unconventional naming may have impacted its sales, prompting Nintendo to opt for a more straightforward name this time around.

While past leaks support the name and logo shared by Necro Felipe, fans should treat these rumors with caution until an official announcement is made. Another rumor hints that the much-anticipated reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 might occur sooner rather than later, based on recent social media activity.
