Oblivion Remastered Mods Released Online

by Audrey Apr 26,2025

Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered does not feature official mod support, but that hasn't stopped dedicated fans from already releasing a few unofficial mods of their own.

Just hours after Bethesda and Virtuos shadow-dropped their reimagining of Oblivion for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, a handful of community mods surfaced on the popular website Nexus Mods. Although these mods mostly offer small customization options, they demonstrate the unwavering dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.

At the time of this article's publication, a surprising 22 mods were available on the site. The first mod to be released allows PC players to personalize their desktop by replacing the default Oblivion Remastered shortcut with one of two images featuring the game's infamous Adoring Fan. Several mods enable players to skip the introduction screens featuring the Bethesda and Virtuos logos, while others, such as one that tweaks the Wizard’s Fury spell and another that removes the compass, are already addressing gameplay customization.

The early wave of mods comes despite Bethesda's announcement that Oblivion Remastered does not include official mod support. This was confirmed in an FAQ section on their website, indicating that players would need to look elsewhere for mods.

Meanwhile, Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming uploaded their Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that Oblivion Remastered is still ripe for modding. "This is just to prove modding is possible," they stated in the mod’s description. "Bethesda says no mod support, I say false. It really is Unreal slapped on top of Oblivion, the data folder is nested in a lot more folders but same concept."

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered launched today, 19 years after the original, for PC and consoles. As more players dive into the game in the coming weeks and months, the pool of mods is expected to grow, offering increasingly diverse ways to tailor the experience. While we await more mods, you can explore why some players believe today’s release is more of a remake than a remaster and why Bethesda chose to label it as "Remastered."
