Oscar Isaac Exits Star Wars Event; MCU Fans Speculate Moon Knight in Avengers: Doomsday

by Finn Apr 27,2025

Hold onto your seats, Marvel fans! Rumors are swirling that Oscar Isaac might be reprising his role as Moon Knight in the upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday. This speculation was sparked by a surprising announcement from Star Wars Celebration's official social media, revealing that Isaac would no longer be attending the event in Japan due to changes in his production schedule.

Back in February, Isaac's scheduled appearance at Star Wars Celebration had fans buzzing about a possible return as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars universe, especially after Daisy Ridley announced her involvement in a new Star Wars film at the 2023 celebration. However, the recent shift in Isaac's schedule has led fans to connect the dots, suggesting that he might be heading to London to join the cast of Avengers: Doomsday.

Social media has been abuzz with reactions:

While the theory is exciting, it's important to remember that it remains just that—a theory. Isaac was not included in the initial cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday. However, Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige hinted at more surprises during a video call at CinemaCon, stating, "We revealed many, not all," leaving room for speculation and hope among fans.

Isaac's portrayal of Moon Knight in the six-episode series released in 2022 was well-received, but Marvel has yet to confirm a second season. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for release on May 1, 2026, promising a star-studded ensemble of returning heroes and new faces, as showcased in the epic livestream.

Meanwhile, MCU enthusiasts have also been intrigued by Robert Downey Jr.'s recent Doctor Doom-themed invitation for his 60th birthday party, adding another layer of mystery and excitement to the mix.

The cast reveal for Avengers: Doomsday last month was a significant event, especially with the inclusion of veteran X-Men actors. Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden are all set to appear, confirming a substantial X-Men presence in the film. Grammer, who played Beast, made his MCU debut in The Marvels' post-credits scene, while Stewart appeared as Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. McKellen, Cumming, Romijn, and Marsden, known for their roles as Magneto, Nightcrawler, Mystique, and Cyclops respectively, have yet to make their MCU debut. This raises the intriguing question: could Avengers: Doomsday be secretly an Avengers vs. X-Men movie?
