Paradox Unveils Europa Universalis V: Cinematic Trailer Released
Paradox Interactive, the renowned publisher behind popular titles like Cities: Skylines, Crusader Kings, and Stellaris, has officially announced their next grand strategy game: Europa Universalis 5. This exciting news comes after a tantalizing tease posted just last week, sending waves of anticipation through the gaming community.
Today, Paradox pulled back the curtain with a stunning cinematic trailer, developed by Paradox Tinto, a Barcelona, Spain-based studio that has been instrumental in the development of Europa Universalis 4 over recent years. Although a specific release date remains under wraps, eager fans can already explore the Europa Universalis 5 Steam page.
“Challenge your strategic skills over 500 years of history, in Europa Universalis 5, the latest version of the celebrated grand strategy game,” Paradox describes. “Master the arts of war, trade, diplomacy, and government in the largest and most detailed Europa Universalis game ever. Guide the destiny of any of hundreds of nations and societies in a simulated living world of unparalleled depth and complexity.”
Europa Universalis 5 has been in development for over five years, crafted with the dedicated Paradox fan in mind. The team at Paradox Tinto has taken more than a year of public discussion into account, ensuring that the voice of the community plays a crucial role in shaping what they call “the largest and most detailed Europa Universalis game ever made.”
Set to begin at the dawn of the Hundred Years’ War in 1337, the campaign promises players a journey through major historical events with an array of new features. Highlights include a new, larger map utilizing accurate map projections, featuring hundreds of diverse societies. This iteration introduces a population-based system, along with enhanced production and trade systems. Players can build farms, plantations, and factories, or engage in trade with neighboring areas, crafting their nation’s destiny as they see fit.
This ambitious project was hinted at last week, though astute fans had already pieced together the puzzle. Europa Universalis 5 aims to offer a strategy experience that empowers players to build and manage their nation with unprecedented freedom.
