Path of Exile 2: Ritual Guide – Passives, Tributes, And Favours
Path of Exile 2's Atlas offers four major endgame encounters: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, inspired by the original Path of Exile's Ritual League, are a significant endgame activity. This guide details initiating Ritual events, key mechanics, the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, the Pinnacle boss (King in the Mists), and the unique Tribute and Favour reward system.
Understanding PoE 2 Rituals and Altars
The Atlas map displays endgame events using specific icons. Ritual Altars are denoted by a red pentagram with a demonic face. Ritual encounters are guaranteed on Atlas nodes using a Ritual Precursor Tablet slotted into a completed Lost Tower.
Maps containing a Ritual will spawn multiple Altars. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat waves, life-draining blood pools).
Interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large enemy wave will spawn; remain within the designated circle to complete the Ritual. Leaving the circle prematurely forfeits rewards. A map is considered complete after all Rituals are successfully finished.
King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss
'An Audience With The King,' a unique Ritual currency item, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness, home to the King in the Mists. Use this currency in your Atlas Realmgate to access the boss fight.
The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone). Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at event-exclusive Unique items, valuable Currencies, and Omen items.
Ritual Passive Skill Tree
The Atlas Passive Skill Tree includes a Ritual section (bottom right) offering modifiers for increased rewards, reduced Tribute costs, and improved unique Currency drop rates.
The red, five-pronged Ritual tree boasts eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each Notable node requires defeating the King in the Mists at an increased difficulty.
Notable Ritual Passive Nodes:
Notable Node | Effect | Requirements |
---|---|---|
Promised Devotion | 25% increased Altar skill damage; 50% less Tribute, 50% faster Favour appearance | N/A |
From The Mists | 2 extra enemy packs in Rituals | N/A |
Reinvigorated Sacrifices | Revived monsters gain 20% Toughness, 10% damage; Tribute penalty removed for revived monsters | From The Mists |
Spreading Darkness | 4 Ritual Altars guaranteed per map | N/A |
Between Two Worlds | Guaranteed Wildwood Wisp (increased Tribute) | Spreading Darkness |
Ominous Portents | 25% faster monster waves; 50% increased chance for Omens in Favours | N/A |
He Approaches | 20% chance for Magic/Rare revived monsters; 50% chance for 'An Audience With The King' | Ominous Portents |
Tempting Offers | Extra Favour re-roll; 25% reduced Tribute for re-rolls | N/A |
Prioritize 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' for optimal reward increases. Then, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for enhanced Omen and 'An Audience With The King' acquisition.
PoE 2 Ritual Event Rewards
Tribute and Favours
Completed Rituals yield Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed equals more Tribute and unlocked Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-level Currencies to Rare gear and high-tier Currencies as you progress. 'An Audience With The King' is a Favour reward.
Favours can also include powerful Omen items. Omens modify other Currency items (e.g., Omens of Annulment specify which modifiers are removed). Omens are consumed upon use and are highly valuable, often traded for numerous high-value currencies.
In addition to Tribute and Favour rewards, Ritual enemies drop high-tier Currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop event-exclusive Unique items.
