In the clip, Peacemaker is referred to as "a superhero now," hinting at an evolution in his role.

Gunn took to Twitter to express his enthusiasm, stating that the Season 2 premiere is "one of my favorite things ever." This statement underscores his personal investment in the project. Peacemaker Season 2 marks a significant milestone in Gunn's revamped DC Universe (DCU), arriving after the July 11 release of Superman, which serves as the cinematic launch of the new DCU. It will be the third installment in this new universe, following the Creature Commandos TV series from last year and the upcoming Superman film this summer.

This new DCU, spearheaded by Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, aims to distance itself from the less successful DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. Despite this shift, some elements from the old universe will carry over, with Peacemaker serving as a prime example. While Season 1 was part of the DCEU, Season 2 will fully embrace the new DCU.

Gunn has previously mentioned that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though the specifics of what will transition from the DCEU to the DCU remain undisclosed. What is confirmed is the return of the entire Team Peacemaker with the original cast, including John Cena reprising his role as Peacemaker, alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Additionally, Gunn has stated that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting Peacemaker's storyline. This interconnected narrative approach promises a rich and evolving universe for fans to explore.
