Pizza Tower and Castlevania Dominus Collection Lead Today's Releases
Hello discerning readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, wasn't it? A flurry of surprise releases, too! This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's a welcome change. We've got news, a look at today's eShop additions, and the usual sales lists. Let's dive in!
News
Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers Abundant Choices
Combining two smaller showcases was a smart move, resulting in a multitude of announcements. Highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Effect: Connected, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I recommend watching the video; it's worth your time. Plenty of fantastic titles for diverse preferences.
Select New Releases
Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)
A third Castlevania compilation joins the fray, a welcome surprise from the Direct. This collection features the three Nintendo DS entries: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade title, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake—a significant improvement. M2's masterful emulation and comprehensive features make this an exceptional value.
Pizza Tower ($19.99)
This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch. Conquer the five massive floors of Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will appreciate this, but even those without strong Wario ties who enjoy platformers should give it a try. A review is pending.
Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)
Another surprise release. It's Wednesday; we'd have little to report otherwise. Goat Simulator 3 delivers more of the same chaotic goat shenanigans. Performance on the Switch is uncertain, as more powerful systems have encountered occasional issues. Proceed with caution, but even poor performance might add to the game's inherent absurdity. Silly goats, silly antics, and potential Switch-induced technical difficulties.
Peglin ($19.99)
EA's omission of PopCap games from the Switch feels like a missed opportunity. But Peglin scratches that Peggle itch. This mobile hit is equally enjoyable on the Switch, blending Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming.
Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)
Kairosoft's familiar shop simulation formula gets a Doraemon makeover. The Doraemon license is well-integrated, and you might even spot characters from the creator's other works. A charming addition.
Pico Park 2 ($8.99)
More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can join via local or online multiplayer. Cooperative puzzle stages demand teamwork and strategic thinking. A solid sequel, though unlikely to attract newcomers.
Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)
An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple but enjoyable for the price.
SokoPenguin ($4.99)
A Sokoban-style puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels of crate-pushing challenges.
Q2 Humanity ($6.80)
Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Utilize your character's abilities and drawing mechanics. Up to four players can participate locally or online.
