PlayStation Plus subscribers will get five extra days for free
Sony has addressed the nearly day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing it to an unspecified "operational issue." While the company offered no further explanation or preventative measures, PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive a five-day extension to their subscriptions as compensation.
The outage significantly impacted gameplay, with over a third of players unable to log in and others reporting server crashes. This incident highlights concerns among players who have long criticized Sony's requirement of a PSN account, even for single-player games on PC.
This isn't the first major PSN disruption. The infamous 2011 data breach resulted in over 20 days of connectivity problems. Although less severe, the recent outage has left many PS5 users dissatisfied with Sony's lack of transparency regarding the cause and future prevention strategies.
