Get ready for significant updates to Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has hinted at the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, features initially introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The addition of Morpeko, a Pokémon known for its form-changing abilities, fuels this speculation.

The upcoming season promises "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon," according to Niantic. Morpeko's form-shifting via Charged Attacks is a key element of this update. The developer's statement explicitly mentions, "Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team."

While details remain scarce, the "big" changes are expected to launch in September. The community anticipates the introduction of other Galar region Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash, alongside these new mechanics. The implementation of Power Spots, the original Dynamax/Gigantamax locations in Sword and Shield, remains unconfirmed for Pokémon GO. The current Shared Skies season ends September 3rd, and many believe the next season will center around Galar Pokémon, further fueling the Dynamax/Gigantamax rumors.
