Pokémon GO: Spotlight Hour Spotlights Voltorbs
Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! January's first week is almost over, and the next Spotlight Hour event is just around the corner – this Tuesday! With numerous events already underway, make sure you've stocked up on Poké Balls and Berries. This Spotlight Hour promises exciting catches!
Pokémon GO consistently delivers engaging monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a specific Pokémon with a chance to snag a Shiny. Here's the lowdown on the upcoming event:
Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour
Mark your calendars! The Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour runs Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. This week's stars are Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, offering double the Shiny hunting opportunities! Both Pokémon are valuable additions to your team, providing significant damage output.
Given the double Pokémon feature, prepare ample Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. Maximize your chances of catching Shinies and evolving them by having these items ready. Also, ensure sufficient storage space; you'll be catching a lot!
Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), a Kanto region Pokémon, is tradable and transferable to Pokémon Home. Catching it yields 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 Candies. Boasting a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb delivers impactful damage. Remember, it's Electric-type, so it's vulnerable to Ground-type moves (160% damage) but resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type moves (63% damage). Its optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge (Electric), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits!
Hisuian Voltorb, also #100, shares Voltorb's family and stats (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack), tradability, and transferability to Pokémon Home. Catching it also awards 3 Candies and 100 Stardust, and it evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 Candies. While also Electric-type, its type matchups differ slightly. It takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves (160% damage), while resisting Grass, Steel, and Water-type moves (63% damage), and Electric-type moves (39% damage). Its best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt, offering 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather enhance its damage. Look for the Shiny variant with a black body instead of orange.
