Pokémon TCG Pocket butters up players with free trade tokens as they work on improving feature

Pokémon TCG Pocket is giving away 1000 Trade Tokens to all players via the in-game Gifts menu. This giveaway coincides with their efforts to rework the trading system, a highly requested feature that has proven controversial.

The trading function's launch, while eagerly anticipated, has been met with mixed reactions. This led developers to announce plans to revise the trading mechanics. The 1000 Trade Tokens offer a temporary solution while these changes are implemented. Trade Tokens were previously a necessary currency for card exchanges.

Prior announcements detailed plans to simplify trading and currency acquisition. Players had voiced concerns about trading restrictions, such as rarity limitations and the required currency, as major drawbacks.

To avoid the current issues, a simpler, unrestricted trading system or the removal of trading altogether would have been preferable. While acknowledging the potential for bot exploitation, the existing restrictions likely wouldn't deter determined players.

Hopefully, the trading rework will address these concerns. A well-implemented digital trading system could make Pokémon TCG Pocket a compelling alternative to the physical card game.
