Pokémon TCG Pocket launches its hotly-anticipated trading feature and Space-Time Smackdown
Pokémon TCG Pocket’s highly anticipated trading feature has finally arrived! Paired with the launch of the exciting new Space-Time Smackdown expansion, January ends on a high note for Pokémon TCG Pocket fans.
Trading works much like real-life card trading, allowing you to exchange cards with friends. While some restrictions apply—only certain rarities (1-4 and 1-star) are tradeable, and resources like trade hourglasses and tokens are required—it’s a significant addition to the game.
But the trading isn’t the only exciting news! The Space-Time Smackdown expansion introduces legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia, alongside the beloved Sinnoh starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, and much more!

The trading feature’s reception, however, has been somewhat mixed. While a welcome addition, the numerous caveats—resource requirements and trading limitations—have been met with some criticism. Ideally, a completely free and unrestricted trading system would have been preferable. However, developers are reportedly monitoring player feedback, suggesting potential future improvements.
