Pokémon TCG: Prismatic Evolutions Shortage Explained

Summary

The Pokémon Company acknowledges widespread shortages of its Scarlet and Violet—Prismatic Evolutions expansion and thanks fans for their patience. Reprints are currently in production and will soon be distributed to retailers.

The Pokémon Company has officially addressed the significant shortages affecting its highly anticipated Scarlet and Violet—Prismatic Evolutions Pokémon TCG expansion. This marks the first public acknowledgment of the issue, following widespread fan complaints regarding difficulty in obtaining the set since its November 2024 announcement and pre-orders. The set's official release is January 17, 2025.

In a statement to IGN, a company representative confirmed the shortages, stating that they are working at maximum capacity to produce more cards to meet the high demand. The statement directly addressed fan concerns and acknowledged the resulting inconvenience.

Pokémon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Reprints Imminent

Reprints of Prismatic Evolutions are currently underway and will be distributed to licensed distributors as quickly as possible. While no specific date was given for wider availability, the company aims for swift distribution. Although online speculation points to scalping as a contributing factor, The Pokémon Company attributed the shortages solely to "high demand."

“We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this.”
