Pokemon GO Event Adding Long-Requested Feature for a Limited Time

Pokemon GO Fashion Week: Remote Raid Passes Arrive in Shadow Raids

Pokemon GO trainers can now utilize remote raid passes in Shadow Raids for the first time, a highly requested feature since Shadow Raids launched in 2023. This limited-time opportunity is part of the Fashion Week: Taken Over event, running from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time.

This event allows participation in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids, both in-person and remotely. A key benefit? Increased chances of catching Pokémon with superior Individual Values (IVs) during these raids.

A Special Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day:

The excitement extends to a special Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Trainers will have enhanced odds of encountering a Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh and can teach it the powerful charged attack, Sacred Fire. Additionally, the event allows the removal of the Frustration move from Shadow Pokémon using Charged TMs.

Temporary Feature?

While this is a welcome addition, it's crucial to remember that the ability to use remote raid passes in Shadow Raids is temporary and ends with the Fashion Week: Taken Over event. Whether Niantic will make this a permanent feature remains uncertain. Given past criticism regarding the in-person requirements for challenging Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, many players hope this convenient option becomes a standard feature.
