Keep in mind, however, that major OEM manufacturers such as Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) won't release their own RTX 50-series equipped systems until later in Q1.

Dell has just unveiled its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs today. Currently available in two configurations, both come with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and a GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, starting at a premium price of $4,449.99. Don't expect immediate delivery; Dell estimates these systems will arrive by April 22.

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell showcased the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis maintains a design similar to the 2024 R16 model but features minor aesthetic and cooling enhancements along with updated components. The I/O panel is now at the top of the case, and the tempered glass window extends across the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side vents. Air intakes are positioned at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that helps keep the interior less dusty. The internal components have been refreshed with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Boutique PC Retailers with Built-to-Order RTX 50XX Systems

Some boutique retailers offer the flexibility to customize systems with RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs through their configurators. Brands like iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm are now including RTX 50-series GPU options. While this approach provides a high degree of customization, be aware that build-to-order systems can be costly and may not offer the best value for money.

Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo Prebuilt PCs Coming Later

The major OEM computer manufacturers, including Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo, will not launch their prebuilt gaming desktops with RTX 50-series GPUs until later in the year. At CES 2025, Dell showcased the Alienware Area-51 gaming PC, which is expected to feature the new Nvidia GPUs upon its Q1 launch. HP plans to equip its flagship Omen 45L with RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs, likely in mid or late February. Lenovo has yet to announce when it will start integrating these new GPUs into its Legion Tower gaming desktops.

Nvidia officially unveiled its 50-series GPUs at CES 2025, emphasizing advancements in AI features alongside modest hardware-based performance improvements. DLSS 4 technology is claimed to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual impact. In our review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE, Jackie Thomas noted, "The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has taken the performance crown from the RTX 4090, but the generational uplift in traditional non-AI gaming performance is one of the smallest in recent memory. However, in games supporting DLSS 4, the performance gains are significant, though 75% of the frames are AI-generated."

Similarly, in our review of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE, Jackie stated, "For those with a recent high-end graphics card, the RTX 5080 may not justify an upgrade due to its marginal performance lead over the RTX 4080. However, for gamers with older GPUs seeking a substantial boost, the RTX 5080 delivers, especially when leveraging Nvidia's AI enhancements."
