Lenovo has officially launched preorders for its highly anticipated Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 gaming laptop, designed for 2025. This powerhouse machine comes packed with cutting-edge features, including the latest Intel processor and NVIDIA graphics card, a stunning high-resolution OLED display, and ample RAM and SSD storage right out of the box. Despite still being listed as a preorder, many units have already begun shipping, with deliveries expected as early as late April.

Equipped with a 16-inch 2560x1600 OLED display running at 240Hz, the Legion Pro 7i features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and 2TB (2x1TB) of SSD storage. The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX is leagues ahead of its predecessor, the Core Ultra 9 185H, which focused more on energy efficiency rather than outright power. The 275HX, however, is a true successor to the i9-14900HX and pairs exceptionally well with the RTX 5080 GPU.

This latest generation brings modern enhancements such as WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, USB Type-C supporting up to 140W of Power Delivery, Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1 (40Gbps), and a USB Type-A port with USB 3.2 Gen 2 specifications. Retaining a premium build quality, the chassis remains crafted from aluminum and magnesium, ensuring durability and a sleek appearance. The Legion Pro also includes an RJ45 Ethernet port and a physical webcam privacy shutter—a rarity in today’s laptops.

While we haven’t yet reviewed the Legion Pro 7i specifically, we recently evaluated a gaming laptop featuring the RTX 5080 GPU. In raw rasterized performance, the RTX 5080 edges slightly ahead of the RTX 4080. However, its true strength lies in games that support NVIDIA’s DLSS 4.0 with multi-frame generation. During our testing of the Gigabyte Aorus Master 16" RTX 5080 laptop, equipped with a 150W TGP rating and a 2560x1600 display, we found that the RTX 5080 performed similarly to the Legion Pro 7i under identical conditions.

In titles like Alan Wake 2, latency issues were noticeable at higher multiplier settings, while Cyberpunk 2077 ran smoothly. As multi-frame generation and neural shaders continue to evolve, embracing these future-ready technologies becomes increasingly appealing. However, it’s important to note that these advancements rely on ongoing updates from NVIDIA and game developers.

"NVIDIA has been transparent about aligning the 50-series GPUs with AI-driven performance rather than solely focusing on native rendering.
