Best Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap
Marvel Snap's roster of animal companions has been rather limited – Cosmo, Groose, Zabu, and Hit Monkey being the mainstays. However, the Brave New World season introduces a new feathered friend: Falcon's Redwing.
Redwing's Mechanics in Marvel Snap
Redwing is a 3-cost, 4-power card with a unique ability: The first time it's moved, a card from your hand is added to its previous location.
Several factors limit Redwing's effectiveness:
- Single-Use Ability: The ability triggers only once, regardless of attempts to reuse it via cards like Symbiote Spider-Man or hand manipulation.
- Targeting Challenges: Precise card targeting with Redwing is difficult. Move decks often utilize low-cost cards (like Iron Fist) that are undesirable targets, while Scream decks typically manipulate opponent's cards rather than their own.
Despite these limitations, budget-friendly move cards like Madame Web or Cloak (accessible to lower Collection Level players) can be used to activate Redwing. Strategic play might allow for unexpected victories by deploying a powerful card like Galactus early or drawing a high-value card such as The Infinaut.
Optimal Redwing Deck Compositions (Day One)
Ares and Surtur-centric decks, popular in previous seasons, have adapted to incorporate Redwing within a Scream-based strategy that leverages cards like Aero and Heimdall. However, the optimal play for Surtur usually prioritizes its turn 3 placement, minimizing Redwing's impact in this archetype. A sample deck includes:
Hydra Bob, Scream, Kraven, Captain America, Redwing, Polaris, Surtur, Ares, Cull Obsidian, Aero, Heimdall, Magneto. (Note: This deck is expensive, featuring several Series 5 cards.)
Another potential inclusion of Redwing is within a Madame Web deck, particularly relevant given the nerf to Dagger and the rise in popularity of Ongoing decks. This deck aims to utilize Doom 2099's power-spreading ability. A sample deck includes:
Ant-Man, Madame Web, Psylocke, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Luke Cage, Captain America, Redwing, Doom 2099, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum. (This deck also contains Series 5 cards.)
Is Redwing Worth Investing In?
Currently, Redwing's value is questionable. Its limited ability and reliance on currently underpowered archetypes make it a less-than-ideal investment. Saving resources for future, potentially more impactful cards, is recommended unless significant buffs are implemented.
