Will R.E.P.O come to consoles?

*R.E.P.O.*, the co-op horror game that burst onto the scene in February, has captured the attention of over 200,000 PC gamers. But what about console players? Are they in for a treat, or will *R.E.P.O.* remain a PC-exclusive thrill?

Is R.E.P.O. Coming to Consoles?

As of now, *R.E.P.O.* is not slated for a console release, and it may well stay a PC-only experience indefinitely. The game's developer, semiwork, has remained silent on any plans for a console version. Their focus is firmly on perfecting the game's multiplayer features, which have encountered significant challenges.

The core issue they're tackling is enhancing the multiplayer mechanics while preventing the game from becoming a breeding ground for cheats. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," the developer explained to PCGamer. This dilemma must be resolved before any thoughts of a console port can even be entertained.

While other PC-only games like *Mouthwashing* have made the leap to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the transition. Similarly, games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share a similar premise of evading monsters, have also stayed PC-exclusive. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* hinted at a possible console release but cited technical hurdles. Since then, no further updates have been shared.

So, to answer the burning question: Will *R.E.P.O.* come to consoles? The developer has shown no interest in pursuing a console version, prioritizing instead the refinement of the PC version's multiplayer elements.
