RuneScape: Dragonwilds made a thrilling announcement during its early access livestream on April 16. Jagex, the game's developer, revealed that Dragonwilds is now accessible for early access on Steam, astonishing fans who were only recently introduced to the game's first gameplay teaser on April 2, after it opened for wishlist on April 1. Initially teased in 2022, the game's alpha testing signups commenced in late 2024, but it was not until March 31, 2025, that it was officially unveiled as RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

The developers are eyeing an early 2026 release for Dragonwilds. They emphasize their commitment to perfecting the game, stating, "We want to spend the time to get everything right to ensure our players enjoy a complete, satisfying experience that they’ll want to return to with friends time and again."

Jagex Executive Producer Jesse America highlighted that Dragonwilds offers a fresh take on the RuneScape universe, designed to captivate both long-time fans and newcomers. He added, "Throughout Early Access, we’ll continuously update the game with new content and features, closely engaging with the community to craft an iconic open-world survival crafting game beloved by all."

Early Access Roadmap Revealed

Jagex has shared an exciting early access roadmap for Dragonwilds, outlining upcoming developments. A key highlight is the introduction of Fellhollow, a new region teetering between life and death, ruled by the soul-eater dragon Imaru. This area is influenced by the wild anima of Ashenfall and the cursed energy of the Underworld. Players will journey alongside the iconic RuneScape character Death, exploring new quests, lore, gear, and music, while developing new skills in magic, ranged combat, and farming.

The game will also introduce Lesser Dragons as a new enemy type, alongside dragon slayer gear, a hardcore mode, and a creative mode. While specific release dates for these updates remain undisclosed, the developers promise ongoing enhancements to enrich the player experience.

Players who jump into Dragonwilds during its early access phase will be rewarded with exclusive in-game items. According to the game's Steam page, "Early Adopters" will receive:
