Samus Showcases New Psychic Abilities in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on Viewros
In today's Nintendo Switch Direct, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond revealed fresh gameplay, highlighting Samus' new psychic powers and a striking red-and-purple suit.
The latest footage showcased Samus' psychic abilities, set to enhance exploration when the game launches later this year. Reminiscent of BioShock, the iconic bounty hunter scans stone statues and battles new foes on the planet Viewros, wielding purple energy controlled by her free hand. Little is known about this enigmatic jungle world she’s been mysteriously drawn to, though signs of intelligent life surround the massive central tree.
Nintendo remains secretive about Metroid Prime 4’s exact release date, only confirming a 2025 window, but today’s gameplay offered insight into how these psychic powers function. Players can use them to activate mysterious devices or guide energy blasts through the planet’s wildlife.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has endured a turbulent journey since its initial reveal with just a logo at E3 2017. After years of silence, a developer switch, and a gameplay debut last year, questions linger about potential enhancements for Nintendo Switch 2. However, the game is confirmed to be playable on both platforms.
