The first season of The Last of Us was a massive success for HBO, created by Craig Mazin of Chernobyl fame and Neil Druckmann, head of Naughty Dog. It garnered numerous Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and was nominated for five Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Outstanding Director, and Outstanding Writing.

The overwhelming success of the initial season has HBO eagerly anticipating more. Francesca Orsi, HBO's executive, hinted that the series could extend to a total of four seasons, indicating that Season 2 will not cover the entire game.
