Shotgun King Free on Epic Games Store

This week's complimentary mobile title on the Epic Games Store is Shotgun King: The Final Checkmate. The offer is valid until Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, ending at 9:30 PM, and is available globally for Android users.

As is customary, the Epic Games Store typically offers one or two free games weekly for both mobile and PC. Given the festive period, there's a special addition this week. Alongside the regular weekly offerings, the store is running a separate daily free game promotion exclusively for PC, with these titles marked as mystery games.

Returning to this week's mobile offering, Shotgun King is a turn-based roguelike strategy game. First launched on PC in 2022 and later ported to consoles and mobile, it reinvents chess by incorporating gunplay mechanics.

Rather than leading a full army, you command only the black king, who wields a shotgun. All other pieces have deserted to the white side. This setup creates a scenario of chess with a shotgun, where each run tasks a solitary king with surviving, reloading, and battling against a dominant foe.

Every turn presents a choice: move the king or fire the shotgun at opposing pieces. Shooting empties the weapon and consumes a turn, requiring the king to move again to reload before firing next. The objective on each board is to evade checkmate while capturing the white king.

Clearing a floor rewards you with two random upgrade pairs. Each set provides one buff for your king alongside one enhancement for the opponent. Advancing through successive floors and managing these trade-offs represents the king's quest to reclaim his lost kingdom, driven by a past misstep and wounded pride.
