Sony Cutting PS4 Games from PlayStation Plus Next Year
Sony is phasing out PlayStation 4 games from its PlayStation Plus Essentials and Games Catalog starting January 2026, focusing its efforts on PlayStation 5 titles.
This change, announced alongside February 2025's PlayStation Plus monthly games, reflects a shift in player preference towards PS5 games. Sony stated that PS4 games will only be offered occasionally in the future for PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and the Game Catalog. This alteration won't affect previously acquired titles; however, Games Catalog PS4 games will remain accessible until their scheduled removal.
The company emphasizes its commitment to enhancing the PlayStation Plus experience, highlighting continued benefits such as exclusive discounts, online multiplayer, and cloud saves. Sony anticipates adding new PS5 titles monthly.

With the PS4's launch in 2013 and the PS5's in 2020, Sony notes a significant player migration to PS5, influencing this decision. The future placement of PS4 games within the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog (currently featuring PS1, PS2, and PS3 titles) remains unconfirmed, with further announcements expected closer to the date.
