Sony PlayStation State of Play Reportedly Set for Next Week

by Penelope Feb 19,2025

Sony's February PlayStation State of Play is reportedly scheduled for next week. Leaker NateTheHate, known for accurately predicting the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, hints at a State of Play during Valentine's Day week (February 10-14).

Speculation abounds regarding Sony's announcements. Several first-party titles slated for 2025 release are strong contenders. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei is a prime candidate for a gameplay reveal and release date announcement. Bungie's Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter, might also feature if playtesting plans remain on track. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgames, and Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, are possibilities, along with a new trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

However, recently cancelled live-service titles from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games (reportedly a God of War live-service game) will be absent. Guerrilla Games' live-service Horizon project, however, reportedly survived the cuts; a reveal is possible.

A poll asks which game viewers anticipate most:

PlayStation State of Play Game Poll

  • Ghost of Yotei
  • Marathon
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
  • Marvel's Wolverine
  • Fairgames
  • Horizon multiplayer live service project
  • Physint
  • Phantom Blade Zero

Regarding third-party announcements, Kojima's Physint (a stealth-action exclusive) might be too early for a full reveal, while Phantom Blade Zero (a hack-and-slash action RPG from S-Game) is a more likely candidate.

Microsoft's presence is also notable. A release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 could be announced, and the possibility of a Halo announcement for PlayStation remains.

Looking back at last year's State of Play, which showcased titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine's Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2, provides insight into potential announcements.
