Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones
Sony WH-1000XM5 Review by Kevin Lee
"The Sony WH-1000XM5 represents the significant upgrade we've been eagerly awaiting from Sony's flagship wireless headphones. The new design and AI enhance the noise-canceling capabilities, while the ambient listening mode is naturally splendid. Audio quality is impeccable, suitable for everything from intricate classical music to the dynamic soundscapes of action movies."
The previous generation Sony XM4 was already an outstanding headphone, but the XM5 introduces crucial enhancements in noise cancellation and comfort. It features a second processor and double the microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. The earcups have been redesigned for a snugger fit, improving passive noise isolation. The noise-canceling performance of the XM5 is superior to that of the XM4 and most other headphones in its price range.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 boasts a sleeker redesign with an updated headband adjustment system. The wider headband improves weight distribution, and the luxurious synthetic leather earcup padding is softer and more comfortable, allowing for hours of wear. One minor drawback is that the XM5 can no longer be folded inward, only swiveled, making it less compact.
Despite these changes, the Sony WH-1000XM5 maintains the XM4's excellent battery life, offering over 30 hours on a single charge with ANC enabled. It also supports fast charging via USB Type-C.
At this price, the XM5 is significantly more affordable than competitors like the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and the AirPods Max. If you're in the market for premium noise-canceling headphones, this deal is not to be missed.
