Spider-Man 2 PC Release Hacked in One Hour

Spider-Man 2 was released on Steam and the Epic Games Store without any protective measures, making it impossible to hack the game prior to its launch. The absence of pre-order and pre-download options, coupled with the game's hefty 140 gigabyte size, contributed to this scenario. Remarkably, within an hour of its release, hackers managed to download and crack the game's distribution, confirming the lack of sophisticated defense systems.

Sony maintained a low-key promotional approach for the project. The system requirements for Spider-Man 2 were only disclosed a day before its PC launch. Currently, the game ranks seventh among Sony's biggest releases on Steam, trailing behind titles like God of War, Horizon, and even Days Gone.

Initial player feedback has been underwhelming, with the game receiving a 55% positive rating from 1,280 reviews at the time of this post. Players have reported issues with optimization, frequent crashes, and various bugs.

In contrast, Spider-Man Remastered continues to lead the series in terms of online engagement on PC, having peaked at over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether Spider-Man 2 can approach the success of its predecessor remains to be seen over the upcoming Friday and weekend. If current sales trends persist, the game may still achieve a respectable outcome.
