Spider-Man Animated Series on Disney+ Already Renewed for Seasons 2 and 3

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the Disney+ animated series following Peter Parker’s first year of high school, has already been renewed for Season 2 and Season 3.

In an interview with The Movie Podcast, Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel Studios, revealed that scripts for Season 2 are fully completed and half the animated storyboards are done—even though Season 1 doesn’t premiere until tomorrow, January 29. Season 3 has also been officially greenlit.

“I’ve fallen completely in love with these characters,” Winderbaum said. “I’ve read all the Season 2 scripts, and we’re halfway through the animatics. What [lead writer and executive producer Jeff Trammell] is building, brick by brick, really starts to pay off.”

“You feel it in Season 1. You grow attached to these characters, and when everything begins to come together and deliver by the season’s end, it resonates deep within me—and it only gets richer with each passing season.”

Winderbaum said he’ll be meeting with Trammell in a few weeks to hear his vision for Season 3, though he didn’t hint at when fans might see Season 2—or Season 3.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man chronicles Peter Parker’s first year in high school as he discovers his superpowers. It’s still unclear whether Season 2 will focus on his second year and Season 3 on his third, or if Marvel intends to explore more stories from Spidey’s freshman year.
